Birmingham City Council have put a spoke into the wheel of the rickettty old bike that is Paul Golding’s Britain First.
They have decided that Britain First does not match up to its declared principles of equality, community cohesion and the promotion of British values. So, they are implementing their No Platform policy in relation to his proposed rally in the city next Saturday.
So, Britain First’s venue in Victoria Square will remain open to pedestrians but the Council will not be lowering their bollards to let in vehicles – which means Golding won’t be able to take in his platform lorry, speakers and portaloos.
Needless to say, he’s feigning outrage, although you can’t help suspecting he’s rather glad it might have get him off the hook. Now he has someone else to blame when the promised ‘thousands ‘ of patriots’ he has been promising would turn up turn out to be a scruffy, bedraggled couple of hundred. Tops.
And his angry missive to his members ends on a predictable note: oh yes, he has a legal team standing by to fire off letters to the council. But they’re expensive and first he needs cash. Even more of it…chip in here…
Oh, please…when will his supporters ever learn.
