Opponents of Homeland leader Kenny Smith have released a video of him involved in a drunken street brawl only two months ago.
The video is only several seconds long but clearly shows Smith, apparently drunk and out of control, fighting in the street and being restrained by others present.
Searchlight understands the incident occured in Cheltenham.
Charlie Simpson, a young far-right, self -styled ‘independent journalist’, who posted the video on X, said that the fight took place on 5 July, and shows Smith being restrained by other members of the Homeland Party leadership.
You can see the video here:
The release of the video comes only days after Steve Laws, one of the early Homeland Party defectors, had warned Smith to “shut his mouth” or they would end his political career.
Smith had used much of a speech at a Remigration Conference in Oslo two weeks before to denounce those who had split from Homeland, criticising his leadership and his strategy of ‘sensible nationalism.’
The Steve Laws threat was a direct response to that.
Smith is now claiming that it was a minor scuffle started by someone else after a stag do, and that it was filmed by one of Laws’ co-conspirators, Kai Stephens, who passed it to Charlie Simpson.
In an online post, and a WhatsApp message later sent to members, Smith said: “A few weeks ago there was a stag do…
“Stag dos involve alcohol, as you well know, but I did not go too far.
“The night ended with me being attacked by someone’s brother over a perceived slight.
“I successfully defended myself, as any man should. It is as simple as that.
“Unbeknown to us at the time, Kai Stephens filmed a short clip and kept it for future use”.
This is only the latest chapter in a series of fractious episodes in Homeland which have led to two splits since April and increasing personal rancour between those who had till then been part of one of the more successful fascist initiatives in the UK in recent years.
And, you may be sure, it hasn’t ended yet.
