‘Pastor’ Rikki Doolan, UKIP’s spokesman on Culture and Arts, has announced this morning that he is quitting the party.
He has posted a statement online saying that there is no falling out, no scandal, and ‘no scoop’ and that he has made the decision for personal reasons. He doesn’t say what those reasons are.
Doolan was, however, one of the UKIP NEC members (he served ex officio) recruited six months ago from the ranks of Tommy Robinson’s key supporters. He had appeared on the platform of Robinson’s London rallies where he spoke and performed with his execrable Christian rock band.
His co-option by UKIP reflected, at the time, the growing relationship between the party and Robinson.
Money laundering allegations
So Doolan’s departure may be another sign that Robinson’s enthusiasm for a link up with UKIP when he gets out of prison is waning.
Doolan is a pastor at the Spirit Embassy church in London and two years ago was the target of money laundering allegations in an Al Jazeera investigation. He was present in Southport during last year’s riots.
Doolan was a UKIP candidate in the local council elections where he polled a princely 18 votes in Nettleham and Saxilby in Lincolnshire.
